Parables of Jesus – The Kingdom of Heaven – Matthew 13:31-33, 44-46

Parables of Jesus - The Kingdom of Heaven - Matthew 13:31-33, 44-46

The parable of the mustard seed represents three things, (i) the smallness of the Christian faith at the time, thought it has grown to be great (ii) the smallness of our faith, but that it can grow and flourish, (iii) that on our own we feel small like the mustard seed, but together as God’s people we can be part of something much bigger and greater, God’s eternal Kingdom.
The parable of the pearl represents (i) the preciousness of the Kingdom, (ii) that to ‘own’ it means we have to give up things that we shouldn’t do, and (iii) that we should put God’s Kingdom above all else, being willing to sacrifice anything for it.
